Your primary responsibilities shall include:
- Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with potential borrowers and sponsors active in real estate investments in the target markets
- Origination, underwriting and management of loans backed by the commercial real estate as per the fund ‘s investment guidelines
- Analyse lending opportunities in the real estate mezzanine debt space using financial modelling, sensitivity analyses, exit and returns analyses, due diligence on industry fundamentals/drivers
- Making recommendations on lending terms and pricing to the Head of the debt fund and negotiating heads of terms with borrowers
- Preparing clear, concise investment committee papers analysing the lending opportunity in detail, assessing merits and key risks of the deal. Presenting the opportunity to investment committee, responding to Q&A and making recommendations
- Full transaction execution responsibilities, including:
- Instructing and engaging with third party advisers to conduct due diligence on the fund’s behalf
- Negotiating loan and security documentation with the team’s legal advisers and borrowers
- Reviewing property, valuation and insurance due diligence materials as required
- Undertaking customer set-up (KYC) requirements
- Arranging drawdown notices and liaising with internal and third party (e.g. agent) teams as needed to ensure transactions complete in a timely manner
- Maintaining detailed files and records and post-closing, ongoing liaison with borrowers
- Working with and oversight of more junior team members to assist with transactions
Qualifications:
- Degree qualification in finance, economics, commerce, real estate or related discipline
- Minimum 8 to 12 years’ relevant working experience in a related industry
- Experience in real estate banking and/or real estate investment would be preferred but candidates from related disciplines will also be considered
- Solid financial modelling skills and strong research, quantitative and analytical skills
- Fluency in oral and written English and Mandarin to facilitate communications with senior management, internal stakeholders as well as external parties
- Keen attention to detail and able to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills, a good team player and a flexible mindset adaptable to changes
- Willing to travel extensively
